Convert TIFF to PNG — or PNG to TIFF — without your files leaving your computer
Drop a file, pick a direction, save the result. Every conversion runs on your own machine, so your images are never uploaded anywhere.
Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store.
What sets it apart
Runs entirely on your computer
Files are read in the tab and decoded and encoded in Web Workers inside the extension. Nothing is uploaded, the extension declares no permissions at all, and its own pages are blocked from making network requests — so it keeps working with the internet turned off.
Both directions, one panel
TIFF to PNG for anything that needs a compressed picture, and PNG back to TIFF when a print shop, a GIS tool or an archive wants the uncompressed original. A switch under the title changes the direction; nothing else about the page changes.
A whole folder at once
Drop as many files as you like. They convert one after another, each finished file waiting on its own card until you press Download — or tick the ones you want and take them together as a single ZIP.
Transparency kept exactly
Logos, cut-outs and layered graphics keep their alpha channel: every alpha value comes out byte for byte. A multi-page TIFF becomes one PNG per page rather than a flattened first page.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the converter safe to use?
- Yes. Every conversion runs locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded, and the extension has no networking code and requests no permissions.
- Can it process many scanned pages in one go?
- Yes. Select a whole batch and the extension converts the files one after another. Each finished file waits on its card until you download it, or you can tick several and take them as one ZIP.
- What happens to transparent backgrounds?
- Alpha is preserved. Every alpha value comes out byte for byte, so cut-out and layered graphics stay usable after conversion.
- Can I convert PNG to TIFF as well?
- Yes. Switch the panel to the reverse direction whenever you need the uncompressed format again; both directions live in the same window.
- Does it need an internet connection?
- No. Once installed it works fully offline in both directions, because the extension cannot make a network request at all.
- Will large files slow down my browser?
- Multi-page and high-resolution files are converted in Web Workers, so the rest of your tabs keep running while a conversion is in progress.
